June
14th:
As the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma is consumed this weekend,
June 15-17, 2007, with nostalgia fever over the digging up
of time capsule containing a 1957 Plymouth chocked full of
items from 1957, we take a trip back in time to the the '50s
and '60s with a program full of the music and sounds of the
time. Our nostalgic look back is built around an interview
we did with Mike Miller, who now lives in Houston, but was
at one time the TV news anchor on each of the network
affiliates in Tulsa.

June
14th:
Mike Miller is a unique guy. Son of a tap dancer and talent
agent, reared in Tulsa, Miller did what most people did with
show business in their blood, they got into radio. A child
of the 60s in many ways, Miller talked with Jerry about his
days as a disc jockey in Tulsa with some great stories about
other jocks and music acts and lots of good music is
featured along the way as well. This is the first of two
programs with Miller, the other one will involve his later
life as a political consultant and mover and shaker in the
Republican Party. This hour deals with Miller's stories of
his TV news adventures, including Tulsa newsroom personnel
who shot porno movies with station equipment. One such film
even came to the attention of the Tulsa Police Vice Squad.

Soon:
John Wooley is a paranormal fiction writer with a weakness
for the occult and the pulp treatment of his stories. Yet,
they all read with flair and interest from beginning to end.
Wooley worked for years as an entertainment writer and
critic for the major Tulsa daily newspaper, The Tulsa
World. Wooley is also a fan of western swing, and he
knows quite a lot about other big band genres as well. He
hosts his weekly program on public radio in Tulsa, KWGS-FM,
and this fun filled hour of trivia, rare western swing tunes
and big band music is a great way to understand how this
"art form" reached out of Tulsa and is now heard around the
world. |
