Elvis Presley died in his Memphis mansion on August 16, 1977, at the age of 42. The iconic status he achieved in his lifetime coupled with a sudden and relatively early death cemented his position as one of the most famous rock stars ever.

Program One premieres at 3:30 PM on August 16th, 2007, the 30th Anniversary of the death of The King. As a follow up to The Elvis Presley Story original twelve hour series, in the fall of 1977, shortly after the death of Elvis, Watermark produced a 13th hour to reflect the final chapter in the life of The King. In this program, the spirit of the man and his talent is captured in a review of his life and all of the hectic events surrounding his death and funeral.
